My apologies, I had upgraded the Php from 4 to Php5 and apparently it broke the page links. The -404- errors have been fixed and everything should be working properly now.
Mr. Gingerverse 4×6 Watercolor. Just something silly for my son who is currently in Basic Training for the Navy.
We can send pictures & letters and since he’ll be away from family for the holidays thought this would make him laugh. He used to flex and joke all the time “look out for the thunder & lightning” (each bicep) lol.
A hazy winter day. The last of the tree’s have changed color and are dropping leaves. A looser impressionist style for me. I’d had enjoyed it more using heavier paper I think.
9×12 Watercolor on Canson 90lb paper. I like the arches rag paper better, this was like painting on tissue, felt like the paper was going to come off with each brush stroke yuck.
Finally back to posting & painting. I grew up in California. I used to love sit and watch the waves and daydream. They were so relaxing and beautiful. I live in the midwest now. The things I miss most are family, friends, the ocean, the weather and Disneyland in that order.
This is a 4×6 Watercolor study (I use Windsor & Newton tubes) for a larger painting I’ll be doing.
He’s done!! Gollum from LOTR. I have had the pencils for awhile. Drew a flower with them, didn’t like them and they collected dust until I decided to give them another try. I love the color blue and had purchased some tinted paper to try and this seemed a good character choice to experiment with the color.
Gollum is such a sad soul, lot’s of character and fun to draw. He was so passionate about that ring and other times being loyal to Frodo.
“The Hobbit” was the first book I remember reading given to me by my mom 30 yrs ago. Gollum always scared but intrigued me and still does.
Reference is a from a LOTR cover. Character creation, credits etc. belong to J.R.R Tolkien, LOTR, Andy Serkin the CG crew.
Prismacolor (Regular and Watercolor) Pencils on 11×14 Blue Strathmore Pastel Paper. Approx 16 hrs.
WIP(October 23rd, 2009) in it’s very rough stages of Dr. Frankenfurter (Tim Curry) from Rocky Horror Picture Show, on Bristol 2 ply 300 series smooth (1st time using this paper and enjoying it over the vellum so far). As you can see I don’t work one corner and down, I tend to be all over the place once. I start with the eyes to have some company and keep felt or paper under my hand to prevent oil or smudges.
I’m finishing up projects and spent time with my son before he left for boot camp today. Travis is a Sailor and we’re all very proud of him. Travis has a great sense of humor and I’ll miss hearing his laughter at movies, jokes and his daily stories while he is away. Seeing as how Tim Curry has brought many laughs through my generation and my kids it’s a drawing I couldn’t resist.
16×20 Tom and Jerry Illustration for my son Garrett. He has to do a speech in his oral communications class. He asked me to draw an illustration with Tom laughing (”holding his stomach mom or the class won’t get it, k!”) and Jerry holding back his “uncle” from attacking Tom.
First thing I asked was if I was doing something he was assigned lol and the answer was no, he told the teacher his idea and she said “your going to draw this?” His reply was heck no I got connections, my mom’s an artist, she will!”.
The paper was from school with the football schedule on back, very glossy thin stuff. So it doesn’t have any tooth for colored pencil that’s as dark as I could get it without bloom, and too thin for my watercolor. At any rate this was a fun one to draw out, after a couple of my sketches got the nix by him this design was approved lol
An update on a current work. I am now about 50% done having finally decided how I wanted to do the ears, it’s changed several times and really blocked me progressing this piece lol. I’m still alittle undecided on the title but as of now I’m going with “Focus” or “Fixation”.
9×12 Graphite on Bristol Vellum
I have 2 cats, one of which was reference for this image. I watch her in the yard and she can sit for 10+minutes at a time completely still and focused on the hunt. She likes to chase squirrels lol.
“The Restless Sea” 11×14 Oil on Canvas on display at Alyc’s Art Store, Inc. and will be part of my collection for the exhibition in the Edwardsville Gallery. I am very excited .
This is dry now, forgive the photo quality the painting is actually darker. I’ll have to get a proper photo once the rain ends and I can take it outside in natural light.
This is my first oil painting and first seascape. I have 2 other paintings I am working on. I truly love oil paint but the turpentine (odorless) sets off migraines and seems to aggravate the Grave’s symptoms . I’m saving up to get a set of the water misable oil paints that are mixable with water rather than needing harsh chemicals. For those of you that use oil and are curious or those unfamiliar with water soluble check here Holbeins Duo water misables are archival quality, just like normal oil paint.

“Art Cards, Editions, and Originals” (ACEO) are miniature works of art about the same size as modern baseball cards, or 2 ½ X 3 ½ inches (6cm X 9cm), small enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets.
Had a set of Prismacolor colored pencils (watercolor & normal) for a few years, tried them a couple times wasn’t digging it. Since I started the Gollum portrait in colored pencil decided to keep playing with them.
A Lily on 8×10 tinted pastel paper using the colored pencils. Sorry for the shadowy photo. The paper is actually an off-white.
A green apple study, from a colored pencil tutorial on Dueys Drawings working on reflection cast and making apples look like apples not oranges . I did it using watercolors instead of pencils.
Watercolor 4×6 OSWOA on Strathmore post card. Watercolor 4×6 OSWOA on Strathmore post card. $25.00
This is a portrait done using our Beagle Madison as reference. This was one my first watercolor paintings attempted. I’ve been using watercolor for a few months now and still learning as I go. This one happily, will be used as the cover illustration (if all goes well) for a children’s book project.
9×12 Watercolor portrait (I use tubes Windsor & Newton brand) on Strathmore Cold Press (rough) 140 lb. watercolor paper.
I don’t even really like candy corn to be honest I prefer the chocolate kisses anyway. Good thing I suppose since candy corn is picketing this halloween.
